Why I coach

All the leaders I’ve ever worked with were intelligent people, but not all of them were great leaders, or even pleasant to work with. What separated them, I observed, was how they engaged with and leveraged the people around them. I decided to focus on helping people who wanted to learn to master these behaviours. Seeing people transform themselves, with ripple effects all around them, is incredibly rewarding.

Then something happened in my life that bowled me over completely. It took time and hard work to get myself back to a place where I was able to hold space for other people. I am immensely grateful for the few people who were there for me. I learnt so much about how people process experiences, and how they can manage their own emotions and state of mind. I wanted to put that expertise to use for other people, so I added another focus area in my work: coaching to help people operate from a place of confidence. If you wish you could stop being lived by all the expectations on you, this is for you. If you stop yourself in your tracks because you don’t believe in yourself, this is definitely for you. There’s most likely a lot more that is possible than you’re seeing right now.

My journey

Originally from Flanders in Belgium, I have lived in other countries most of my adult life. That shows in my friends circle: most people have meandered through life along weird and wonderful paths before landing here in the Algarve, on Portugal’s south coast. We like the slower pace of life here, and of course the sun and the sea.

Lead with heart and inner strength

Coaching to lead with heart from a confident inner strength is the most meaningful contribution I can make to this complex world. Besides being there for my children, of course.

That became clear to me through years of working in growing tech and (bio)pharma businesses, combined with studies in psychology and training in transformative coaching.

I am an  ICF Professional Certified Coach (PCC) with a particular interest in how we can regulate ourselves so we still make good choices when the pressure is on.
Being able to do that can help us have constructive conversations and better relationships, make well-considered decisions, and operate from a core inner strength.
